GHMC poll notice on July 23

Hyderabad, July 15th: The notification for the elections to 150 wards of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is likely to be issued on July 23. Elections will be held on August 18 or 19. The GHMC chief, Mr. S.P Singh on Wednesday submitted the poll details to the State Election Commission. The SEC will issue the GHMC poll notification only after meeting the representatives of political parties, the police authorities and government’s printing section officials.

 

The GHMC will have to conduct the elections within 28 days from the date of notification. The final list of the polling stations, its locations and the number voters will be completed by Monday. The election code of conduct will come into force from the day of issue of the notification. This is the first election to the local body after the formation of Greater Hyderabad. Earlier elections were held in 2002 and then it was the erstwhile MCH and had only 100 municipal divisions.
