Kakinada, Oct 14th: Zilla Parishad Chairman Ch S Venugopalakrishna said Rs five lakh relating to 'Paavala Vaddee' Scheme of 70 women's self help groups in Thatipaka were embezzled by animators and stern action should be initiated to stop the recurrence of such irregularities. Reviewing the situation at a meeting of the ZP Standing Committee on Rural Development here on Wednesday, he attributed the irregularities to lack of control of MDOs and DRDA over the animators.
Replying to the queries of agitated members, Assistant Project Director of the DRDA said already action was initiated against the erring animator for recovery of the amount invoking the Revenue Recovery Act besides registering a criminal case against him. The ZP Chairman has directed the officials of all departments to initiate criminal proceedings against the staff who indulged in irregularities and embezzlement of funds in government welfare and development programmes.
