Kakinada, Dec 31st: N.S.S students of V.S.Lakshmi Degree College for Women have conducted free maternity camp for women on Wednesday. The camp was organized at Vasapakala panchayat in Kakinada. Nearly 120 women attended the camp and underwent free medical tests.
Dr. Alluri Vijaya Lakshmi, president of Vijaya Lakshmi Nursing Home, Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi was the chief Guest of the camp. She conducted medical tests to the pregnant women and prescribed the necessary medicines for the needed. Speaking on the occasion she told the women about the necessary precautions that to be taken during pregnancy.
She also asked the women to go for regular checkups and to take fruits and vegetables during pregnancy. Later Youth Red Cross wing member Sonia Goerge presided over the meeting. She created awareness among the women about AIDS. Medicines were distributed to the pregnant women.
Village sarpanch S. Durga Lakshmi, V.S Lakshmi Degree College Principal, V. Sandhya, N.S.S program officer K. Mrudula Devi and Vice Principal M. Padmaja and many more participated in the camp.
