Kakinada, June 17th: Two fishermen who rescued the Srilanka Tamils that lost their way while traveling from war-torn Mullaitivu to Rameswaram were facilitated with cash prize and mementoes. In a program organized at Pantam Padmanabham Community Hall at Uppada village in the suburbs of Kakinada on Wednesday, East Godavari district collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi congratulated the fishermen Kondala Srinivasa Rao and Konda Krishna and presented them the awards.
The awards were sponsored by the Coast Guard of Kakinada and Reliance Energy. Speaking on the occasion collector appreciated the fishermen for their act of saving the lives of Sri Lankan Tamils including four women. He asked them to be more vigilant when thy go for fishing in high seas. This was necessitated in view of militants attacking the state through sea route.
