Kakinada, Dec 10th: Demanding the social and political rights Vadabalija Mastyakara Sankshema Sangam has staged dharna at district collectorate on Wednesday. The members of the Sangam wearing black badges made 12 other demands related to the welfare of the fishermen.
Speaking on the occasion the president of the Sangam, Mr. Konada Prakashrao demanded the government to join Vadabalija in Schedule caste. He said that the Government has occupied their lands under the name of SEZ and demanded for scrapping of GO related to coastal corridor.
The members of the Sangam demanded to provide pensions to the aged in addition to the rehabilitation packages to the fishermen. They alleged that many fishermen were affected by the expansion of Kakinada deep water port. They asked for the establishment of school to the children of Fisher flock.
A petition with all these demands was submitted to the district collector, Mr Gopala Krishna Dwivedi on Wednesday. Sangam leader Chodipalli Kesava, Mosa Chinnaapparao, P. Vasuvallabha, Teja, Vanga Nookababu, Raju and many more participated in dharna for favorable conditions of the demands.
