A fire mishap due to short circuit took place here on Tuesday at Srirama Spinning Mill at APIIC Colony in Ramanayyapeta, Kakinada. When officers went for investigation, they observed that this mill was running illegally and therefore they have seized the records. According to officials, this mill was running from the year 2004 and Mullapudi Venkateswarao registered for this mill in the same year. However, as the turnover tax was not paid in the year 2005, its license was seized. Nevertheless, another person Aakina Apparao is continuing this mill. Due to short circuit, when fire mishap occurred, staff tried to extinguish the fire but could not succeed. Later, under the supervision of Fire Officer Ramakrishna, fire staff reached the incident place. Officers noticed that Rs.30,000/- worth cotton was lost during this mishap. Commercial Tax Officer (CTO) D.Sitha Rammayya reached the incident spot and checked the records. They declared that this mill was started on the name of Srinivasa Textiles during 2005 and running illegally from then. Therefore, they seized the records and asked the manager to pay commercial tax. However, Manager Apparao stated that they are not preparing cloth here but just preparing honk with cotton for which tax need to be paid, he added.
