Kakinada, Jan 27th: Three people suffered burn injuries and 12 houses were gutted when a gas cylinder exploded in Matlapalem area in Ambajipet early today. Police sources said fire tenders from Ambajipet and nearby Amalapuram rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control. The injured were admitted to a hospital in Amalapuram. Properties worth Rs 30 lakh were destroyed in the accident.
The Ambajipet police who registered a case identified the person received severe burns as Kumpatla kotaiah (20), a farm worker. According to sources, the mishap occurred when an LPG cylinder blasted from one of the houses in the Metla Colony in Ambajipeta, the mandal headquarters village. In total 22 families were rendered homeless with the fire accident.
