Financial aid to Sri Lankan refugees

Kakinada, May 11th: A Hyderabad based organization Google (India) has donated Rs 8,000 for all the 11 Sri Lankan refugees that were rescued by local fisherman last week. Out of 21 people who started from Sri Lanka, 10 died on high seas because of starvation and the remaining were brought to Uppada coast about 16 Km from here. Former district governor of Rotary Club, Lakki Satyanarayana has handovered the amount announced by the director T.T Ramagopal, to the refuges undergoing treatment at Kakinada General hospital on Monday.

 

Meanwhile East Godavari district collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi said on Monday that shifting of the refugees to Rameswaram medical camp in Tamilnadu may take few more days as one of the members of the group, an aged woman was affected by paralysis and need medical treatment for few more days. The woman is admitted in the intensive medical ward in the hospital. According to the hospital doctors, the health condition of the other member was stable and they only need to take rest.
