Kakinada, Feb 28th: Financial aid was given to victims of ammonia gas that leaked from a fertilizer industry, Coromandal International Limited (CIL) on February 1 by the management of the plant at a meeting held here on Sunday. Nearly 38 victims were affected with the leakage out of which seven of the victims received Rs 15,000 each and the others were paid Rs 10,000 each. The incident also claimed two lives.
Speaking on the occasion, the East Godavari District Collector Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi said that nearly 500 types of industries are there in district and out of which 100 fall under the petroleum and highly inflammable category. If any mishap occurs in these industries the loss would be in a major extend. He asked the managements of the industries to take all precautionary measures to avoid the mishaps. Besides providing financial aid the management is also ready to provide employment to the local people. Kakinada MLA, K. Kanna Babu, CIL general manager Mr. S Mani Prasad, vice president Mr. Raju were present.
