Financial aid to affected people

Hyderabad, Oct 3rd: The Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each to the kin of those who lost their lives due to floods in Kurnool, Mahboobnagar and Krishna Districts. Addressing a press conference after chairing a high-level review meeting with the Cabinet Ministers and leaders of the Opposition Parties on the flood situation, Chief Minister K Rosaiah said Rs 4,000 would be provided to families whose houses were fully damaged, Rs 3,000 to those whose dwellings suffered severe damaged, Rs 1,000 for clothes and an equal amount for utensils.

The government would also provide 20 kg of rice and five liter of kerosene to each affected family. Stating necessary instructions were issued to the Collectors of the three districts to provide relief as per the Calamity Relief Fund (CRF) norms, he said the government had instructed the head of the departments participating in the relief operations to take immediate decisions in providing relief to the people without waiting for formal sanction. The situation in the three districts was improving gradually due to receding flood waters, he said, adding the State Government had intensified the relief and rescue operations with the help of Navy, Army and Police personnel in the affected areas.
