Fasts & blockades for united Andhra

Kakinada, Dec 15th: Several pro-united Andhra activists and others continued their agitation for the fourth day on Tuesday demanding a clear decision on their pleas from the Center. With the slogan Jai Samaikya Andhra, all the activists started the protests by first observing the death anniversary the Potti Sriramulu, garlanding his portraits and status at various junctions in the city. Staging rasta rokos, rallies, attacking public and private properties and threating suicides, agitators from all parties expresses their protest at Center's decision to divide the state.

Autorickshaw, taxi and other transport unions of the city voluntarily took part in the stir by holding road blockades and forming human chains at Balaji Cheruvu. Later, they met Kakinada MLA, D. Chandrashekar Reddy and supported his relay hunger strike, which entered fourth day. In an innovative approach, rituals were performed with one lakh fruits of all varieties under the aegis of zilla parishad chairman Ch. Venugopala Krishna at NFCL road.  Meanwhile, students of various schools and colleges in and around the city staged dharna at important junctions and demanded immediate declaration of a Samaikya Andhra.
