Kakinada, Jan 13th: With an intention to recognize the meritorious work of farmers and encourage their efforts for better yield, the state government had introduced annual Sankranti Puraskars a few years ago. The farmers and officials of the department concerned will be honored at both the state and district levels with the puraskars for their outstanding contribution to farming as well as society.
However for receiving the awards, the farmers themselves have to get their names registered. Later the officials concerned shortlist their names and finalize their rank after examining their efforts and modern practices for better results in cultivation. This time only below 10 out of lakhs of farmers in the district of the 60 mandals have come forward to get their names registered.
