Kakinada, Dec 25th: Farmers of 200 villages in East Godavari were advised not to waste water supplied by the irrigation department and take necessary guidelines from agriculture officials for a good yield from the paddy crop in the ensuing rabi season. The department concerned are going to organize awareness camps on the proper usage of water in the first week of 2010.

It may be mentioned that government has finally decided to supply available water in the river Godavari and some other water sources to nearly two lakh acre of 200 villages as against around five lakh acres because of drought. Keeping the scarcity of water in view, officials plan to conduct awareness camps among farmers on how to use water in cultivation without wasting a single drop. Mr. T. Nandaiah, joint director, agricultural department, said that most farmers did not know the right process of cultivation including the use of water.

Apart from these camps, a control room was also set up at the office of the agriculture department here for clarifying doubts over rabi cultivation.
