Eye tests for kids under Drushti

Kakinada, Mar 1st:  For the program initiated by the district administration called Drushti, aiming to conduct eye test for the students studying in welfare hostels, nearly 50 percent of the process was completed by the end of February in East Godavari District. The program was started on February 18 and nearly the tests were conducted for 26,800 students till now. Out of these few were treated for various ailments and another were referred for medical care to various hospitals in the district.

The district additional joint collector and incharge of Drushti, Mr. B. Ramarao said that till now the tests were conducted at various hospitals which include Government hospital Rajahmundry, GGH Kakinada, KIMS Amalapuram CMC Pithapuram and many more. He said that the students who need eye surgeries would be covered under Rajiv Arogyasri. The other expenses including medical care and spectacles will be met by the district administration. The program will be implemented for school children under government, municipal and Zilla Parishad schools in second and subsequent phases, he added.
