Kakinada, Jan 18th: The hunger strike organized by National Ex-servicemen coordination committee has reached its 3rd day on Sunday. Nearly 200 members are on the path of agitation. The committee alleged that the government is showing negligence towards them in allotting houses and land to them. The president and the secretary of the East Godavari District unit of the committee, Mr. Thrivikrama Rao and M. Raja Rao said that their demands for allocating houses under Rajiv Gruha Kalpa were pending since 2005. They also revealed that each member have deposited Rs70.000 for the same.
“Even after the repeated appeals and rounds to revenue and housing officers since 2003 nothing good has done to us”, said one of the committee members. Members alleged that the AP High Court has given orders for the allotment in 2005 and a GO was released to complete the allotment with in one year of retirement form services. They also lamented that they sacrifice their lives for the country and in return the government is showing negligence towards them. Wives of Former ex-servicemen also participated in the strike.
