Hyderabad, Jan 20th: The schedule for the Eamcet and other common entrance tests (CETs) will be delayed further as the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) failed to convene a meeting on Wednesday to finalise the dates. The meeting was indefinitely postponed due to the Telangana Bandh. Officials are not in a position to clarify when the next meeting would be held. The APSCHE's efforts to convene a meeting with respective Vice-Chancellors of various universities, which were identified to conduct Eamcet, Icet, Edcet, Lawcet and Pgcet, proved futile since December due to the volatile situation in universities on account of student agitations in support and against bifurcation of state.

The universities fear that the delay would have an adverse impact on the smooth conduct of these exams given that nearly four lakh students apply for Eamcet alone. Nearly 10 lakh students apply for various CET's for admissions to various professional courses in the state every year and the universities concerned need to make elaborate arrangement to ensure that they are conducted smoothly.
