District Collector, Mr. M. Ravi Chandra called upon the students to take Sir Mokshagundam Visweswarayya as their role model and achieve their goals with self-confidence. Addressing the Engineers Day Celebrations organized jointly by the Ideal Institute of Technology and Lions Club Kakinada here on Wednesday, Mr. Ravi Chandra recalled that Sir Visweswarayya was the first Engineer who installed automatic floodgates for the first time in the country and prepared plans to protect Hyderabad from floods and Visakhapatnam from soil erosion. He said that late Visweswarayya's role in the laying of Ghat roads between Tirupati and Tirumala was unforgettable. Mr. Ravi Chandra advised students not to waste their precious academic term by resorting to anti-social activities like ragging, but focus on their career and plans. He later felicitated Professor D. Mallikarjuna Rao, Engineers Mr. A.Rameswara Rao and Mr. Veerabhadra Rao, besides inaugurating a Blood Donation Camp. President of the Ideal Institute of Technology Mr. N.S.R. Shastry, Director of the Academic Audit of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University - Kakinada Mr. G.V.R. Prasada Raju and others were present.
