EG to have a stadium soon

Rajahmundry, Aug 22nd: East Godavari district is soon going to have multi purpose stadium. Taking part in the municipal council session held here on Saturday, the municipal commissioner, Mr. K. Manik Raj said that the district is going to have a new multi purpose stadium which is going to be constructed over a 20 acre site belonging to the Central Prison.

He announced that government had issued an order according permission to take up construction of the stadium. He also said that in addition to this they would also develop Pothula Veerabhadra Rao stadium at a cost Rs 48 lakh for which the civic authorities were ready to spend. He felt the need for mobilization of funds for construction of the new stadium.

The council has taken several important decisions and few among them include demand to corporate colleges to offer free seats to students who secured more than 500 marks in Class X exams in municipal corporation schools from next academic year, to declare Rajahmundry as a mission city as its population had crosses 10 lakh, in order to get Central aid for taking up development works.
