Kakinada, Mar 7th: State Information Commissioner (SIC) R Dilip Reddy said that the East Godavari District is one among those districts which are effectively implementing the Right to Information (RTI) Act. Reviewing the implementation of the act at a meeting organized with the district officials at the collectorate here, he said there was more awareness in this district on the act and the officials should tune themselves to provide the required information to the people.
Mr. Reddy said that the Public Information Officers (PIO) in some of the subordinate offices are lacking in the basics of the act and there is a need to conduct awareness programs for the officials at the district and sub-divisional level. The clearance of the pending petitions received from the public in East Godavari district stands at 87 per cent, which is appreciable, he added. District Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi said the district administration will soon conduct special training programs to create awareness among the (PIOs) about the act.
