‘Earth Hour-2011' observed by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)-India in association with Nyros Technologies, Kakinada Municipal Corporation, AP Pollution Board, SRMT, Regency Ceramics, JNTU Kakinada on 26th of March in Kakinada. Joint Collector and Special Officer of the municipal corporation Mr. K. Sasidhar along with Mr. Ghazal Srinivas, WWF State Director Mrs. Farida Tampal, Nyros Technologies CEO Mr. M.N.S.Pavan Kumar and other officials participated in the symbolic “switching off lights” to express their solidarity with Earth Hour and started Candle light walk taken out from Bhanugudi Junction to Vivekananda Park on 8.00pm. Speaking on this, Mr. Sasidhar stated that every individual have to do their own tasks & duties to save our mother earth to give a good environment for the next generations. Later, Dr. Ghazal Srinivas gave a performance in the function organized at Vivekananda Park after candle walk on 8.30pm. He mesmerized the people of Kakinada with his great performance and the speech given for earth hour. Number of people from Colleges, Schools, Organizations, Firms, etc., were actively participated in the event and other people across the Kakinada turned off their lights for 1 hour sending a powerful global message that it is possible to take action on global warming. According to this, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mr. G.S.N.Murthy, Revenue Divisional Officer Mr. G.C.Kishore Kumar and other officials are participated.
