Hyderabad, Aug 28th: The decks have been cleared for the appointment of 52,000 teachers who had qualified in the mega-DSC recruitment exam in May following the conclusion of transfers and promotions process for the existing 1.8 lakh teachers in the state. The state has directed the district education officers to prepare the merit list of candidates from the DSC qualified candidates by September 3. The directorate of school education has convened a meeting of DEOs on September 3 to release the merit list of candidates of all the districts.

The commissioner and director of school education, Ms Poonam Malakondaiah, directed the DEOs to attend the meeting with CDs containing merit list on September 3. They were asked to prepare the final list by September 10 so that appointment letters to the new teachers can be issued at the earliest. The DEOs were asked to identify the exact number of vacancies.

While the state has noticed about 52,200 vacancies, officers were shocked to find only 40,000 vacancies after the transfers and promotions process was over. Officials are now struggling to find 12,000 additional vacancies for DSC qualified candidates. With SGT posts being upgraded to school assistant posts, about 8,000 SGT posts were lost that were notified in the DSC notification.
