Kakinada, June 8th: Kakinada revenue authorities have taken up a special drive to weed out the bogus white ration cards in 10 mandals of the region. Out of the total 2.84 lakh cards issued in the mandals of Kakinada urban, Kakinada rural, Karapa, Kajuluru, Pithapuram, Gollaprolu, U-Kothapalli, Samarlakota and Pedapudi mandal under the revenue division, 37,999 cards were found as null iris white ration cards.
Already the verification of 28,144 cards was completed and the verification for the remaining is going on. The authorities found 778 bogus card and another 4,685 cards, the individuals were found missing on verification as per the photograph taken at the time of issue of cards. According to the Kakinada revenue divisional officer (RDO), Mr. G.C Kishore Kumar, the verification of cards in which individuals were found missing was on.
The authorities asked the card holders to present the individuals at specified time to verify the credentials. If they fail to turn up, appropriate action will be taken on the card holders including cutting benefits.
