Drive to enroll school dropouts

Rajahmundry, Aug 25th: The Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) authorities have targeted to enroll 7,974 school dropouts back to schools in the current academic year in both East and West Godavari district. In East Godavari as many as 3,403 school dropouts were identified. So far 2,178 were enrolled during the recently held Badi Bata Program while efforts are on to enroll the remaining 1,225 children in regular schools.

Before doing so, SSA authorities run residential and non-residential bridge course centers and four each RBCs and NRBCs are proposed to be set up with 100 children in each RBC. With regard to four NRBs, 141 children would be to be accommodated. The RBCs would be run by regular mandal educational officers with the assistance of voluntary agencies. Once the children are properly trained in these bridge course centers, based in their levels of comprehension, the students would be enrolled in regular schools.

In West Godavari, as many as 4, 571 school dropouts were identified and 2,943 already enrolled in schools during the Badi Bata program. For the remaining children, the authorities are trying to open RBCs and NRBCs. There is a proposal to set up seven RBCs to cater 647 children with each RBC accommodating 100 children. With regard to NRBc, 15 are proposed for nearly 750 children with each NRBCs catering to about 50 children.
