Kakinada, Dec 14th: The East Godavari administration has taken up a special drive to eliminate the bogus farmers from all the 12 rytu bazaars in the districts. Among the 12, six rytu bazaars are in Rajahmundry, two in Kakinada, one each in Ramachandrapuram, Ravulapalem, Kotha Peta and Amalpuram districts. The decision was taken to reduce the middleman in the rytu bazaars and to help the farmers get the real price for the vegetables they sell in the markets.

District joint collector and collector for civil supplies, Mr. Kona Sasidhar during his visits to the rytu bazaars noticed that the influence of middlemen is more in some places. It was noticed that the farmers were not receiving the high prices being paid by consumers. JC directed all five revenue divisional officers (RDOs) in the district to verify the credentials of more than 600 farmers in rytu bazaars in the district. RDOs were directed to cancel the identity cards if the presence of a non-farmer or a middlemen was found.
