Kakinada, Oct 10th: City MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy told Rs 4.50 crore worth drains and culvert works had been launched on Oct 10 in the municipal corporation. The aim is to radically improve the sanitation and drainage in the city within a month. Already drinking water supply system was improved by renovating the filter beds under the direct supervision of the corporators committee avoiding the bureaucratic delays.
Wastage of water from the street taps was curbed by fitting tap heads ensuring regular monitoring by the concerned ward corporators. Mr Reddy said all the roads in the city would be converted into cement concrete roads under a phased program. Within a couple of month’s time all the encroachments in the city would be removed and the unauthorized constructions are dismantled.
City Mayor Kavikondala Saroja who is also present said that efforts were being made to merge the entire peripheral village Panchayats in the Kakinada City Municipal Corporation for providing better civic amenities including sanitation, roads and drainage. A special emergency meeting of the municipal council is convened on October 12 to approve the proposal of merger of 14 peripheral villages in to the corporation.
