Doctors withdraw strike

Kakinada, April 13th: With the attack on the house surgeon in the gynecology ward by an attendant of the pregnant woman, junior doctors, house surgeons and medicos of Kakinada Government general hospital boycotted their duties on Sunday. The doctors attended the emergencies as usual. Nearly 600 doctors participated in the strike and demanded the authorities to take stringent action on the assailant and asked to give protection for them as per the GO No.416.

 

With the assurance given by the district SP, Ms Charu Sinha to provide additional security at the hospital, the doctors withdrew their one day agitation on Monday evening and attended their duties. Addressing the press meet organized at GGH, Hospital superintendent, Dr. M.B.R Sharma said that large number of people coming to see the patients in the gynecology and casual wards were posing serious problems to both the safety of the doctors and sanitary conditions. He revealed the need of keeping a check on the number of visitors and asked the cooperation from the patients for the same.

 

SI, Ram Mohan Reddy said that they have lodged the complaint against the women and promised to take severe action on her. RMC principal, Dr. Prathap, Andhar Pradesh Junior Doctors Association General Secretary M. Sudhakar, President B. Raju and junior doctors participated in the meeting.
