Kakinada, May 12th: East Godavari district education authorities are making elaborate arrangements for distribution of textbooks from May 14 in the district. Under this program in total 4,249 schools under government, municipal, zilla parishat and aided schools will be covered. To cater to the needs of students from class I to X district nearly requires 40, 32,425 notebooks.
Of this total requirement, the department holds a stock of 5, 85,273 from the previous academic year balance. Out of the remaining balance department received stocks to the tune of 20, 27,545 books of all classes. This includes English medium books for class VI and VII in addition to the changed text books for classes I, III and V. The distribution and the supply of the books will be monitored by all the five educational officers at Kakinada, Pithapuram, Ramachandrapuram, Amalapuram and Rajahmundry.
Besides this the authorities are also making arrangements to supply textbooks to cater to the needs of private schools in the district. Sale points will be selected from the already registered dealers with the department. According to the district education officer, Mr. P.R Mallikarjuna Sastry, the distribution process will be concluded on or before June12, the day of reopening of schools.
