Kakinada, Jan 2nd: Abhyudaya Foundation has organized Devi Krithis by R. Chitra and Vijayalakshmi, popularly known as Mambalam Sisters on Friday, January 2nd on the occasion of its 10th anniversary celebrations. The program took place at Suryakala Mandir, Kakinada. The auditorium was filled with huge crowds and musical lovers. Speaking on the occasion Chairman, Badam Madhava Rao said that the music was a great medicine for good health and it heals many deceases. He appreciated Mambalam sisters for their excellent performance.
Mambalam sisters are the daughters of Sri K.S Rangachari, a Kanjira Vidwan who was been in the music field for over 50 years. R. Chitra and Vijayalakshmi, were ‘A’ grade artists from All India Radio both in classical and devotional music categories and have traveled extensively all over India and abroad. They have won many awards and prizes, notable among them is title of Nada Bhushanam from Sri Shanmugananda Sabha, New Delhi. They have to their credit more than 70 audio CDs and cassettes. Dr. Bharata Lakshmi, Peddada Surya Kumari and many more took part in the program.
