Kakinada, Jan 1st: Government is planning to take up a special action plan for the overall development of the elementary education under Rajiv Vidya Mission (SSA) in the East Godavari District for the coming academic year 2009-2010. The DEEP, District Elementary Education Plan will be monitored by a committee headed by District collector Gopala Krishna Dwivedi.
Prominence will be given for the establishment of infrastructure facilities like class rooms, furniture, power supply, play ground, toilet facilities etc in the schools. A special focus will be laid on school dropouts and retention of children in the age group of 6 to 14. Rajiv Vidya Mission (RVM) has already identified nearly 4,200 elementary schools in the district.
For the effective implication of the schemes a review will be held by the MEOs on January 8th and the modalities will be finalized. MEOs and the school head masters will form a mandal wise committee for the implementation of the scheme. RVM project officer Y. Hrishikesh, speaking to the media said that the valuable suggestions from the people’s representatives will also be taken into consideration for the implementation of the scheme.
