Kakinada, Feb 18^th: Demanding to provide pure drinking water, the residents of Turangi area has organized road blockage and staged dharna at district collectorate on Wednesday. Woman with metal vessels and earthen pots have participated in large number. They raised slogans against the government demanding for the immediate provision of drinking water to nearly 12,000 residents in the area. They criticized the government for its failure in supply of drinking water to rural areas. Neglecting to provide normal drinking water, government is taking steps to increase the sale of liquor, few alleged.

PRP leader Mr. Pothula Venkata Viswam with other leaders led the agitation. Speaking on the occasion he warned the government to intensify the dharna if the demands were not met. He along with few of the activists submitted petition to the district collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi demanding for the same. Collector assured to take suitable action over the issue and also promised the activists to provide the solution immediately. The road blockage continued for 4 hours and heavy traffic jam took place.
