Kakinada, Feb 19th: Vakalapudi village Sarpanch, Mr. Ginjala Srinivasa Rao demanded the government to cancel the license of the US-based warehouse, Schlumberger for not maintaining the Pollution Control Board norms and causing panic among the villagers. He along with hundreds of villagers including women and children staged a dharna in-front of the company where a fire broke out on Thursday due to the explosion of lithium batteries stored in containers.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rao demanded the government to take care of the health of villagers including the workers in the factory by properly maintaining the factory norms and canceling the licenses of those factories which were not maintaining the same. He warned to intensify the stir by forming all party association in future. He also revealed to meet the collector to narrate the problems faced by them due to the pollution caused by the industries.
