Kakinada, May 5th: The shifting of Sri Lankan refugees to the Rameswaram rehabilitation camp in Tamil Nadu is likely to be delayed for a few more days as two women in the group are yet to recover from illness. Ten adults and 8month-old newborn reached Kakinada shore in their tiny boat last Thursday. The Sri Lankans of Tamil Nadu origin started from Mullaitivu in Sri Lanka on April 20 for Rameswaram in India. They lost their way and 10 of their colleagues died on the way.
The strayed Lankans were rescued from sea by fisherman of Uppada in outer edge of Kakinada on April 29. Some of the survivors fell sick and were admitted to Kakinada Government General Hospital for medical care. The district collector, Mr. Dwivedi, said on Tuesday that two woman members of the group were still in need of medical care and they would be retained at the Kakinada Government General Hospital (KGGH) for few more days till their health improves. The women are undergoing treatment in the Acute Medical Care.
