Kakinada, May 27th: Defence minister and Kakinada Lok Sabha member, Mr. Mallipudi Mangapati Pallam Raju finds berth in union cabinet. He found a place in the list of union ministers to be sworn in on Friday. Mr. Raju was elected from Kakinada for the second consecutive term. After his success in 2004 elections he was induced into the union cabinet as minister of state for defence and continued with the same ministry till the end of his tenure.
Mr. Raju’s family holds the record of holding central ministerial posts for three generations. His grand father Pallam Raju senior was a minister in Jawaharlal Nehru’s ministry in 1960s. He represented Amalapuram parliamentary constituency in East Godavari District. His father Dr. Mallipudi Srirama Sanjiva Rao was a minister in the Indira Gandhi Ministry. Mr. Pallam Raju for the first time elected for the Kakinada MP seat in 1989. He holds the credit of developing his constituency in all spheres.
