Kakinada, Jan 26th: With the arrival of new crops and efforts put by the administration there was a reduction in the price of red gram in the last one week bringing a great relief to the customer to some extend. The price of the essential commodity has raised upto Rs 90 a kg in the last year. This results in extra burden on households. At present according to the trade sources the red gram is being sold at Rs 70 and even less depending on the quality.

Rythu Bazaars in the district at Rs 62 a kg by the association of dal mills in the district. This facility was extended to Public Distribution System (PDS) card holders at a kg per month. Later during the price monitoring committee meeting held in December last, district joint collector K. Sasidhar made the trade representatives to sell red gram imported from China at Rs 48 per kg on on profit and no loss basis at the rythu bazaars in the district.
