Kakinada, April 17th: Compared to the previous year there was nearly 8 percent decrease in the intermediated first year pass rate. While the pass percent in the last year was 53, this year it could reach only 45 percent. This is mostly because of the changes made in the Physics and Chemistry syllabus.

The results of first year exams were announced on Friday. In the district nearly 39,604 students appeared for exams out of which 18,000 were passed. As in the previous year the pass percent of girl students was more than the boys. Most of the ranks were bagged by private institutions. Krishna district stood in the top with a pass percentage of 63 while Mahbubnagar remained at the bottom with just 29 percent pass.

All the internet and browsing centers were filled with students to know their results. Serpentine queues were seen at most of centers. Taking this as advantage the internets centers collected Rs 10 to 20 per head to disclose the results. Candidates can collect their mark lists from their respective colleges from April 21.

According to the secretary of Board of Intermediate Education, Mr. G. Balaramaiah the advanced supplementary exams will be held from May 20 to 28. The students who passed in all subjects can also appear for the exams for the betterment of their marks.
