Kakinada, Dec 28th: East Godavari District superintendent of police, Mr. Y. Nagi Reddy has said that, low crime rates were recorded in the east Godavari district for the year 2008 as compared to the previous year. “By creating awareness among the people about the road accidents the accident rates has been decreased to a greater extend”, he added.
He said that, with the efforts put by the police personnel there is a lot of decline in the number of cases as compared to the previous year. The overall complaints pertaining to robberies, accidental deaths were reduced. There is a significant fall in the number of murders in the present year.
The numbers of injured cases in the accidents were also reduced to a significant extent. However, there is a sharp rise in the number of cases recorded under molestation and fake currency cases. The cases pertaining to rape were also increased. The property recovery has come down in the present year. Only 2.03 crore was recovered against the loss of 3.82 crore.
