Debate on missing jewellery

Hyderabad, Aug 26th: The Assembly will debate on alleged irregularities in Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams on Friday. The speaker, Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy decided to go ahead with the debate after the Opposition demanded it. While the endowments minister gave a statement on mortgage of jewellery by a TTD priest in Kodandarama Swamy Temple, the Oppositions insisted that the debate should not be restricted to the incident but on all issues, including media reports on missing diamonds and gold ornaments belonging to Lord Venkateswara.

The leader of the Opposition, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu said the government should act before people lose faith in the holy place, he added. The Praja Rajyam chief, Mr. K. Chiranjeevi, who represents Tirupati Assembly segment, said he will provide evidence about the irregularities in maintaining jewellery in the abode of Lord Venkateswara.
