Kakinada, Sep 1st: As part of the preparation of National Population Register (NPR) and issue of Multi purpose National Identity Card, the collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi, inaugurated the first batch of training program to the officials including tahsildhars, village revenue officers and enumerators here on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion the collector said that the Centre had decided to start the program initially in coastal villages and added that 12 coastal mandals comprising 32 villages in the district were identified to divide them into block and carry out enumeration work.

He said that each block would be having 600 population with 120 households and the teachers would be appointed as enumerators. Initially they would visit the villages allotted to them with the assistance of VROs and officials from panchayat and bring about awareness among the villagers on the importance of preparation of the NPR. Later, the enumerators would visit the households and collect details pertaining to the family head in a proper format. The enumerators show the recorded details to the head of the family and after confirming that it is correct, a receipt would be issued to the family head.

After completion of the second phase, the data collected in the proper format would be put on display at village panchayats for the benefit of the villagers to check for any lapses. Later, after carrying out the requisite changes, the village grama sabha passes a resolution accepting the data, he added.
