Dairy units to help tribals

 Kakinada, July 2nd: A dairy development program was launched in Rampachodavaram Agency area as part of income generating activity for tribals in East Godavari under the Pasukranti scheme. Milk cattle numbering 189 were supplied to beneficiaries in 19 villages on Rampachodavaram, Devipatnam and Gangavaram mandals in the area. The cattle, each costing Rs 20,000 were supplied to beneficiaries with a subsidiary of Rs 15,000 and the rest as bank loan.

 

Similarly, another 322 cattle were supplied at a cost of Rs 40,000 each with subsidiary of Rs 22,000 provided by the ITDA. To increase the fat content in the milk produced, the ITA has taken special care for producing special green feed. Seed for the cultivation of this special feed is supplied at 50 per cent subsidiary. Ms. Yogita Rani, project officer, ITDA said that dairy development was taken up as an income generating activity for tribals, and was yielding good results. She disclosed that tribals in other parts of the agency area will be given training for taking up the activity.
