The severe cyclonic storm 'Helen' paralyzed the normal life in the district. On Friday, as a part of its beginning, the heavy rainfall accompanied with squally winds devastated several crops, blew off the roofs of several houses and petty shops, uprooted trees and electric poles in many villages in the district. Tidal waves washed away a part of sea wall at Uppada, flooding beach road and is affecting the vehicular traffic. On otherside, the traffic on the Kakinada-Addaripeta beach road in the district is being diverted from Thursday morning due to the damages of roads because of the tidal waves. The district authorities put all department officials on high alert on this.
