Kakinada, Dec 11th: Joint collector, Kona Sasidhar warned the rice millers of registering criminal cases if rice was sold at higher than the fixed price. A review meeting was held on Thursday at collectorate court. He said that severe action will be taken if any difference in bill amount was noticed.
JC said that the review meeting was held for the complaints received from the consumers about the non availability of special quality rice in the counters opened by civil supplies department. He said that the civil supplies minister Mr.Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy assured to supply superfine quality and will be realized soon.
Speaking on the meeting a retailer from Kakinada said that the millers were collecting Rs23 for super quality and issuing purchase bill at Rs19. Hence they were forced to sell the rice for 25Rs. Many of the retailers alleged that the millers are doing malpractice in issuing the bill.
