Hyderabad, July 23rd: The government’s decision to increase the management quota of ‘B’ category seats in private medical and dental colleges was stayed by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. While suspending the GO No: 144 issued by the government on July 15, justice G. Rohini directed the NTR University of Health Sciences to conduct counseling for medical seats as per the earlier order that prescribed the management quota under the category at 30 percent. The court was dealing with a petition filed by one Ms P. Swathi an aspirant of medical seat.

The petitioner told the court that she had secured 6,963 rank and belonged to the A category of Backward Classes and she would definitely get a seat in BDS if the government would not have increased management quota to 40 percent. She contended that the government issued the GO after the announcement of counseling schedule which was illegal and arbitrary.
