The EAMCET counselling process for the admissions into various engineering courses was began across the state, on Monday. JNTU-K & APT colleges are the two centers that are arranged in Kakinada for this counselling. The certificate verification of candidates up to 15,000 ranks was scheduled on the day as a part of the counselling. But the students and parents had a harrowing time to reach the centers, as the APSRTC buses remained off the roads due to the Samaikyandhra general strike. Meanwhile, the Samaikyandhra protesters tried to stop the counselling at JNTU-K & APT colleges in the city. The counselling program has been started at 9am by the JNTU-K Registrar Dr.Prasad Raju, while the Samaikyandhra JAC leaders entered the colleges at 11.30am and tried to stop the counselling. The officials were forced to stop counselling as polytechnic teachers boycotted their duties in protest against the proposed division of state. Immediately, the police forces came into action and arrested some of the protesters.
