Cotton kin visited Engg. College

Kakinada, Nov 30th: Robert Charles Cotton, great grandson of Sir Arthur Cotton, the architect of Godavari and Krishna anicuts, visited Aditya Engineering College campus at Surampalem on Nov 30. Mr. Cotton and his wife Nicolette Anne Cotton are on a tour as State guests to study the progress of work in large and medium irrigation projects in Andhra Pradesh. Replying to a felicitation, Mr. Robert Cotton and his wife appreciated the reverence in which his great grandfather was held though three generations had elapsed. They exhorted engineering students to adopt more scientific and advanced technology for linking rivers in India to fulfil the dream of Sir Arthur.

The management of the college has installed a statue of Sir Arthur to express gratitude for the yeoman service he had rendered in transforming Andhra Pradesh as a granary of the country. Mr. Cotton and his wife were received by Aditya Educational Institutions Vice-Chairman N. Satish Reddy. They garlanded the statue of Sir Arthur. Speaking at the felicitation, AP Hindi Academy ChairmanYarlagadda Laskhmi Prasad recalled the role played by Sir Arthur in shaping the destiny of Andhra Pradesh by designing and constructing two major projects on the Godavari and the Krishna. To commemorate the role of Sir Arthur, MLA and Chairman of Aditya Educational Institutions N.Sesha Reddy got erected the statue of the great benefactor to inspire students to take up challenging assignments in their career.
