Kakinada, Dec 27th: The deputy inspector general of police, Eluru Range, Mr. M.M Bhagawat directed traffic personnel here to intensify vigil on the city roads on night of December 31 in wake of road accidents, as people, particularly youth might engage in drunken driving in view of New Year celebrations. While inspecting duties of the city's traffic police at their circle office here on Sunday, the DIG told reporters that road accidents are increasing in the city because of the lack of knowledge on traffic rules among vehicle users.
He further said that traffic police, apart from monitoring traffic should also keep an eye on vehicle users who violate rules, take them immediately into custody and file cases. The East Godavari district superintendent of police Mr. Y. Nagi Reddy and the traffic inspector, Mr. Ravi Teja were present.
