Cop arrested for theft

Rajahmundry, July 3rd: A police constable was arrested for identifying woman wearing gold ornaments and cheating them by various means and looting the valuables. The deputy superintendent of police, Mr. T. Jaya Prasad told newsmen that constable Sathyala Vijay Kumar, Pc NO.2583 attached to Ramachandrapuram police station was abstaining from duties for the last eight months. 23 sovereigns of gold valuables worth Rs 3.5 lakh were recovered by the police from the accused.

 

Mr. Kumar assured Lanke Achyutha hailing from Konkudur village on April 30 that he would get her clothes at cheap prices at a shop and took her to a lodge. He offered a cool drink mixed with a sedative. When she became unconscious he looted 18 sovereigns of gold on her and escaped. Similarly the police cheated two aged women and lifted the gold from them.

 

DSC said that the crime police caught the culprit when he was trying to sell the looted valuables. Upon inquiry, they realized that he was a police constable attached to Ramachandrapuram police station. All the valuables stolen were recovered by the police.
