Consumers demand to increase electricity bill pay counters

Kakinada, Jan 27th: Electricity consumers are facing many problems in paying the electricity bills at the pay counters. Due to less number of pay counters serpentine queues were found at the counters. Consumers alleged that they were made to wait for many hours to pay their bills and many of them were turning back as they could not afford huge time in paying the bills. At local Electricity Revenue office huge rush was seen on Tuesday. The crowd demanded the electricity officer to increase the counter number from the present two.

 

Demanding for the rise of salaries, e-seva workers are organizing strike from the past 11 days. Due to this the e-seva offices were not working at present. The consumers who initially used to pay the bills at e-seva counters were forced to pay the bills at the electricity offices as the e-seva employees were on strike. Due to lack of computers and staff at the E.R.O there was a great delay in paying the bills. The senior citizens and women are facing problems in paying the bills. Consumers demanded to open a counter for each division so as to avoid the rush. Responding over the issue, Asst Accounts Officer Prasad promised to increase the counters very soon.
