Kakinada, Nov 18th: Leaders and activists of the Kakinada city committee of the Telugu Desam (TD) demanded that a statue of NT Rama Rao, former chief minister and party founder, should be installed on the premises of Raja Rank, a public park here. TD members raised the demand in a counterpart to the city Congress members proposal of installing a statue of former chief minister YS Raj Shekar Reddy. Reviewing the demand with members of the TD at the district's party office here on Wednesday, TD city president D. Ramana Raju said that the TD has ruled the state and Kakinada municipality several times, but had not introduced a statue culture inside public parks like Raja Tank.
In general, the main agenda of council meet of the Kakinada Municipal Corporation, which is scheduled to he held on November 19, was to discuss various problems of people and other development activities in the city. But followers of YSR including some corporaters proposed YSR's statue in the agneda of the council meet, Mr. Ramana Raju lamented. They (TD) were also demanded NTR's statue at the park, which would also be included in the council's agenda list, the TD leader added.
