Hyderabad, Sep 28th: Despite Congress Working Committee member and In-charge of Andhra Pradesh Congress Affairs Mr Veerappa Moily's warnings of stern action against statements by party leaders on succession issue, Congress leaders in the State expressed their views and made statements against each other. State Women Development and Child Welfare Minister Ms Konda Surekha, a staunch supporter of Jagan Mohan Reddy, demanded the high command to make Jagan as Chief Minister. She said she would not continue in the Ministry if the high command failed to make him Chief Minister as desired by the party workers.
Reacting to the statement of senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao that Mr K Rosaiah was appointed as Chief Minister by the high command and would continue till 2014, she said Mr Rao was not a high command to decide the issue. Stating that she would abide by the decision of the high command and that of AICC President Sonia Gandhi, she said the high command had temporarily appointed Mr K Rosaiah as the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah sent a report to Ms Gandhi on the tearing of posters and stopping the teleconference of membership drive in Khammam and damaging the three RTC buses in different places in Rajahmundry yesterday allegedly by Jagan supporters. Senior Congress leader and former Minister J C Diwakar Reddy condemned the tearing of posters of the AICC President and obstructing the membership drive in Khammam District. Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party Office, he said such acts would harm the future of Mr Jagan Mohan and also the image of the party in the State.
