Concern over water problem

Kakinada, June 18th: In a meeting organized at Zilla Parishad hall on Thursday, many expressed their concern over the irregularities in the supply of drinking water to rural areas in East Godavari district. Cutting across party lines, members sought an immediate solution to the problems.

 

Congress MP, T. Ratnabai and Amalapuram MP G.V Harsha Kumar targeted the RWS (Rural Water Supply) department for its indifferent attitude though the matter was brought to their notice several times. Ms. Ratnabai said that seven mandals on the agency area of the district were facing acute storage of drinking water.

 

 

Annoyed with this, the minister for RWS, Mr. Pinepe Viswaroop ordered the officials concerned to place the facts before him the same day. After welcoming the new members, including MLAs and MPs, the house took up the agenda item on RWS. Participating in the debate, former MP and PRP MLA from Pithapuram, Ms Vanga Geeta lamented the non availability of drinking water in several villages in her constituency.

 

Minister presented a water bottle with full of mud to show the quality of water available in the villages. For the meeting arranged under the chairmanship of ZP Chairman Venugopala Krishna, Collector Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi and joint collector, K. Sasidhar, ZP CEO Nagesh Babu and other participated.
